He Would Never Know. . .

She had faced death a thousand times, stared it straight in the eyes, terror and adrenaline her only companions as she clung to the thin strand of light that connected her to this earthly realm. That tiny bright thread that shone through even her darkest night, it had became her anchor, so fragile that at times she was sure it would break. He would never know, as he lay sleeping beside her, the surge of relief she felt every time she realised that she had made it through another night.

"That tiny thin thread"-beautiful. And a thread, by the way, that is attached nowhere. Faith and courage.

I read this yesterday but let it settle inside me for a day. You have an uncanny ability to write emotion into being and that is a gift. Your expression of this particular struggle is accurate and profound. Your blog is different and special in a way I can't define with language and I check it regularly because of this. What a fascinating writer you are.

Val, your comment has really touched me, I so appreciate your feedback, it has made a difference to me. You have put something into words that I had only felt (the ability to write emotion into being) - thank you. x

powerful emotions. The struggle to make it thru each night...and the relief that each new dawn provides.

Sometimes that struggle to make it to morning is as vigorous as hand-to-hand combat. As someone who suffers from 3AM anxiety I can really relate to this. You've done it again.
