She had been running away for so long that she had almost
forgotten why. Wrapping her billowing black cloak of
anonymity around her she covered her face so tightly that she could barely breathe. The need to hide herself surfaced from within her like a sneeze. She skirted around the edges, existing in the shadows, a bystander watching life taking place. She had disappeared so many times now, that she had become amorphous, a
kaleidoscope of changing forms, each reflecting a feeling, a fleeting nuance. And now when she looked for herself in the mirror, she discovered she was no longer there.

Just stopping in briefly, as I've done my own blog disappearing act for the next little while. I'm commenting, because I understand the words. Well said and you've illuminated the personality of someone living with one foot in this world and one foot in another and you've done it exceptionally well.
Thanks Val, your comments are always very much appreciated. I hope your blog 'disappearing act' is both productive and nutritious for you - and that you will return refreshed and renewed. x
Great line: "The need to hide from herself surfaced within her like a sneeze."
One can look at this so many ways. Personally, I approve of these kind of disappearing acts. Anonymity is a glorious thing.
You have such a knack for tapping into what so many are experiencing. I love your use of language!
Hi nothingprofound,
yes, I know what you mean about anonymity being a glorious thing, that, and the disappearing acts are both ways to a certain freedom.
It is always good to see you, thanks for visiting. :)

Your way with words is always inspiring. Love the emotion..:)
Thanks L'Aussie. ;)
looking at herself and discovering she was no longer there. The trick is to figure out WHO IS staring back at you and to get to know (and like) that person.
well done.
Hi David, yep, I am with you on that.
Good to see you. ;)
